Fostering
One way to help shelter pets is to be a foster home. The goal is to provide a homeless dog or cat with a stable environment in order to evaluate their personality, habits, needs and behaviors. This allows us the opportunity to gain information that is useful in finding the appropriate forever home for the animal. We need caring, responsible adults to join our foster home team by opening their homes and their hearts to a special dog or cat in need. The animals we typically look to place in a foster home are those that are recovering from a medical issue, have an emotional issue, a training need or one that has just been at our shelter too long and can use a break while we continue to search for the perfect home or a rescue. In addition to being a fun and rewarding experience, fostering can be time consuming and both physically and emotionally demanding. If you’re interested in fostering a dog or cat please contact us for more information.

Surrendering & Rehoming
Grant County Animal Outreach accepts animals from local Animal Control agencies and the public. We require an appointment to surrender any animal to our facility. This allows the shelter team the opportunity to make room for the incoming animal. Please call 509-762-9616 ahead of time and make an appointment if you wish to surrender a pet.

Microchipping
Grant County Animal Outreach offers on-site microchipping for $25.00. With a 24-PetWatch microchip, you can make sure that if your pet ever becomes lost, they can be identified anywhere, at any time, and you can get them home faster and safer.

Pet Pantry
We offer a free on-site pet food and supply pantry to help keep pets in their homes, because we understand that times can be tough. Availability of items may vary based on donations. If you are in need of assistance, please stop by during business hours — we’re here to help.
